Light Requirements: Prefers full sun to part shade. The African Milk Tree thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some shade. For the best growth and colour, provide plenty of sunlight.
Watering: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. The African Milk Tree is drought-tolerant and can suffer from root rot if overwatered. Water less frequently in winter.
Soil: Prefers well-draining soil. Use a cactus or succulent potting mix to ensure good drainage. Adding perlite or sand can improve drainage.
Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) every 4-6 weeks. Avoid over-fertilizing.
Pruning: Minimal pruning is required. Remove any dead or damaged stems to maintain appearance and encourage new growth. Pruning can be done at any time of the year.
Temperature and Humidity: Prefers warm temperatures and low humidity. Ideal temperature range is 65-85°F (18-29°C). Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C) and avoid frost.
