Cycas thouarsii (Madagascar Cycad)
Cycas thouarsii is a large, single trunked cycad for gardens with a bit of space. Faster growing than most species, it can reach several metres in height and carry dozens of long shiny fronds. This Madagascan beauty is the oldest known cycad species, dating back 140 million years.
Prefers well drained soil in part shade position, with regular moisture during hot summer months. Cold tolerant, but foliage will scorch if exposed to frost – plant beneath a canopy.
